Hepatic Thermal Ablation: Effect of Device and Heating Parameters on Local Tissue Reactions and Distant Tumor Growth

Thermal ablation of normal liver parenchyma, regardless of energy source used, can incite systemic inflammatory reactions and increase distant tumor growth, although modifying the heating strategy toward higher-power, shorter-duration ablation can be used to reduce periablational inflammation and associated effects.
