La implicación de la sensibilidad corporal en el testimonio histórico The implication of corporal sensibility in the his- torical testimony L'implication de la sensibilité corporelle dans le témoignage historique

2004
Testimony —the modern form of witnessing which emerged after the two world wars — seeks to pass down to contemporary societies the experiences lived by the survivors of those disasters. The intent is not only to inform the readers, but to convey to them the echo of the event as an alarm about the evolution of modern society. The written testimony is -—as in its oral form— the communication of one human sensibility to another, and therefore the text must convey the shock of experiencing, which implies the commitment of the body of the body of writer and reader. Two books, one about the testimonies of the veterans of First World War, the other about the survivors of the concentration camps, demonstrate the importance of the corporal feature in the divice of the written transmission of historical witness.
