Alteraciones linfoproliferativas y pseudotumor inflamatorio idiopático orbitario: estudio retrospectivo de pacientes entre 1980 y 1990

1992
A review of the orbitary pathology attended in our hospital during a period of 10 years is reported. We study the cases with locallymphoid tumor with or without systemic affection and idiopatic orbitary pseudotumors with subacute course . We study 16 cases, 11 women, and 5 men between 25 and 68 years old. We found that diagnosis mistakes are frequently made. In eleven cases first diagnosed as idiopatic orbitary pseudotumor; two of them developed a systemic non Hodgkin Iymphoma (18.18%); one of them had a very good response to conventional treatment with corticosteroids; the other one had no response and after surgical removal, was diagnosed as bening Iymphoid hyperplasia. Because of this, we advice special care in following up such patients during at least three years after the onset of pathology, do not entrusting in a good response to conventional antinflammatory treatments or supposed pathological diagnosis of nonmalignancy.
