Simulation Analysis of PLC/WLC Hybrid Communication with Traffic Model

2021
With the development of the Internet of Things and Smart Grids, a single communication model cannot satisfy with all Internet scenarios. Power line communication and wireless communication can complement each other, and the hybrid communication can save the construction costs and improve the robustness of the system. In this paper, we compared the differences between the IEEE 1901 and IEEE 802.11 protocols, and proposed two hybrid Medium Access Control layer protocol schemes. In this scheme, all stations have power line and wireless dual interfaces and can compete for the two channels. In order to make the scene more reasonable, the Poisson traffic model was introduced. Finally, the performance of throughput, collision probability, and time delay of different networking schemes was compared. The results show that the proposed hybrid communication can make full use of the resources of the two channels, improve the system throughput, and reduce the transmission delay. And it can be seen that this algorithm can improve the reliability and effectiveness of the network.
