"NYZ" by Zanana

"NYZ" uses found sounds unique to New York City as the foundation for overlays of acoustic sounds and live processing in Max/MSP using two custom designed and built interfaces. Zanana is a collaborative electro-acoustic live processing chamber music duo featuring Kristin Norderval, voice and Monique Buzzarte, trombone. We compose and perform collaboratively using improvisation as the foundation of our compositional process and use live processing to create sonic transformations of both our acoustic playing and unusual ambient/industrial/site-specific sounds. Kristin's set-up involves a wireless mic and a wireless MIDI glove, allowing her to move in the space, sample and re-process sounds on the fly. Monique uses a custom designed and built unit mounted on the slide of her trombone to sample and process her acoustic playing. www.zanana.org
