Isolation and Identification of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae from Arthritis Swine

2012
In order to provide a basis for control of swine erysipelas, swine erysipelas bacillus was isolated and identified. The synovial fluid of arthritis pigs was inoculated to TSA medium.Small transparent colonies were picked and Gram stained, and the G+ small filamentous bacteria were further identified by PCR using 16S rRNA primers of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae.Susceptibility of the positive strains was tested and showed that these isolates were sensitive to penicillin, cefotaxime, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, cefoperazone, cefazolin, amikacin, amoxicillin, clindamycin, tetracycline and ciprofloxacin but completely resistant to neomycin, sulfamethoxazole, gentamicin, amikacin, vancomycin, and furazolidone.Clinical medication guidance should be based on the above results.
