Study on Airflow and Heat Flux in Underfloor Air-conditioning Systems

Recently, the use of dry double flooring construction in apartment houses has been increasing from the viewpoint of noise prevention. Air conditioning systems that use underfloor space as air supply chamber in air-conditioning, heating and ventilation are called underfloor airconditioning systems. These air-conditioning systems have been already established in office buildings. However, in apartment houses only the experimental use has just begun. The purpose of this study is to get knowledge about underfloor air-conditioning systems for apartment houses. Actual measurements in a room with underfloor air-conditioning systems and CFD simulations by OpenFOAM clarified airflow in the under floor space and thermal conduction in building frame.
