Une analyse empirique de la rentabilité privée de l’education au Cameroun : estimation d’un modèle tobit de type III structurel

2009
This paper, using data from the ECAM II Cameroon household survey, identifies determinants of Private Rates of Returns to Education in Cameroon via a Structural Type III Tobit model. The labour market context in Cameroon is characterized by a predominance of the informal sector, a high rate of unemployment and a glaring state of underemployment. In this regards, most graduates seldom obtain permanent jobs. Generally, the Private Rates of Returns to Education associated to the different levels of education are not significant in the private formal sector. Similarly, these rates of returns for or related to the different certificates are not significant as per the informal sector. Globally, the Private Rates of Returns to Education are higher in the public sector than in the private formal sector. Finally, the Private Rates of Returns associated to the different certificates obtained by graduates are globally higher than those associated to the different levels of education.
