Beta-karbolini - u potrazi za novim terapijskim mogućnostima

Beta-carboline alkaloids, natural products ubiquitously distributed in various plants and animals represent a pharmacologically very attractive scaffold due to its convenient synthesis and structural diversity. Their pharmacological potential has been known for centuries and a large number of publications is focused on exploring the possibilities for their application. To name a few, these compounds have exerted antimalarial, antineoplastic, anticonvulsant and anxiolytic activity. In addition, several beta-carboline drugs are already used in therapy or are currently in clinical trials.
