Observation of a narrow maximum in the momentum distributions of. pi. mesons from the reactions. pi. /sup +/+A(C, Xe). --> pi. /sup + -/+kp(k = 0,1,2. )+A'

In the momentum distribution of ..pi../sup +/ mesons from the reaction ..pi../sup +/+A(C, Xe)..--> pi../sup +//sub back/ +kp(k = 0,1,2...)+A' we have observed a narrow maximum in the small-momentum region similar to that observed previously (I. I. Vorob'ev, L. S. Novikov, and A. F. Buzulutsov, Sov. J. Nucl. Phys. 36, 243 (1982)) with poorer statistics for ..pi../sup -/ mesons.
