Avaliação quanto à presença de microalbuminúria e hiperfiltração glomerular no estágio de tolerância à glicose diminuída

2003
In the impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) phase, there are already several characteristic metabolic abnormalities and risk factors in type 2 diabetes mellitus, which predispose them to develop vasculopathy. We looked for increased urinary albumin excretion (UAE) and creatinine clearance (CCr) in Brazilians with IGT and normal blood pressure. The standard oral glucose tolerance test with plasma insulin was performed to classify participants into two groups: IGT and normal glucose tolerance (NGT). Overnight urine collection was used to assess the UAE (immunoturbidimetry) and CCr. No differences were observed between the groups in regarding UAE and CCr. The frequency of microalbuminuria was 21.1 and 3.3% for the IGT and NGT groups, respectively (NS). In conclusion, Brazilians with IGT, normal blood pressure and insulin resistance did not present microalbuminuria or glomerular hyperfiltration.
