[Perfusion of the isolated rat liver with synthetic estratrienes: relation between steroid structure and metabolism]

The hepatic metabolism of synthetic estratrienes was studied in isolated perfused rat liver preparations. Increased retention of steroids with hydrocarbons substituted in the 17alpha position in comparison with endogenous steroids was noted. Possible metabolic pathways and the relationships between steroid structure and metabolism are discussed.(Authors modified)
