Optical Transparency of Quartz and Fullerite C60 at High Power Infrared Laser Irradiation

2003
The increase of the optical transparency of quartz and fullerite thin films under the effect of high power non-resonance TR laser irradiation was found. Tt is shown that laser induced optical transparency at power density of radiation close to destruction cut-off of the materials takes place. For fullerite C60 thin films this effect in UV-VIS range arises at thicknesses >600 A. The laser induced red shift of 642.8 cm-1 line and splitting of 674.3 cm-1 line in C60 fullerite thin films was noticed.
