Rudimentäre Wurzelbildung und ausbleiben-der Zahndurchbruch im bleibenden Gebiss

2002
Generalized aberrancy in the size of dental roots is reported to occur in certain hereditary defects in tooth formation (Dentinogenesis imperfecta type I and II, Radicular dentin dysplasia) and secondary to certain systemic disorders. Even environmental factors are known to cause diminution of root formation. Despite of remarkable general symptoms the case presented here is different from any reported case previously. At the age of 9 persistency of the maxillary decidous incisors was prominent as well as abnormal tooth mobility of the erupted mandibulary permanent incisors. Radiographic examination revealed short or absent roots in all permanent teeth. First treatment was supplying the maxillary decidous incisors with composite strip crowns. At the age of 16 extraction of the deciduos maxillary incisors and operative removal of the retentioned permanent incisors were necessary. Afterwards the patient was fitted with a temporary denture.
