Активность ферментов глутатионового обмена в форменных элементах крови у больных с поздно манифестирующей шизофренией.

2020
In the original study, 17 patients with late-onset schizophrenia (main group) and 19 women without mental and neurological diseases (comparison group) were examined in order to study the activity of glutathione reductase and glutathione S-transferase in platelets and erythrocytes. The activity of platelet glutathione-S-transferase in the main group correlated with the age of onset of the disease and is significantly and reliably reduced relative to the comparison group. In the subgroup of patients with a relatively earlier manifestation of the disease (up to 60 years), the activity of platelet glutathione reductase was significantly reduced. The results are important for assessing the degree of damage to the glutathione pathway of the antioxidant system in elderly patients.
