A perforation method for strength and elongation testing of thermoplastic films
1992
Abstract A perforation method for testing strength and elongation of thermoplastics films has been elaborated. The principle of this method lies in measuring the force needed to perforate a film using a cylindrical needle with a flat point. Besides the perforating force, an apparent elongation l is read from the ‘stress-strain’ curve. The results have been compared to the conventional tensile test. The perforation method demands a minimum quantity of sample and can be carried out on current testing machines.
