Spectrometric properties of a high-efficiency fast-neutron detector

1975
Abstract The absolute efficiency vs neutron energy of BF 3 counters immersed in paraffin at five distances from the source has been evaluated using Monte Carlo techniques. The neutron energy ranged from 0.5 to 50 MeV. The results are discussed in the perspective of designing actual neutron detectors with high efficiency and low-resolution spectrometric properties. A “weighting-functions” method is proposed to analyse the experimental data.
