Expedient Synthesis of 3-Substituted-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridines.

Treatment of aryl or alkyl halides with Landsbury′s reagent (generated from pyridine and LiAlH4) results in an alkylation—reduction sequence which affords the title compounds as suitable intermediates or products of pharmaceutical interest.
