Cognition on menopause knowledge among family members of climacteric women in a community of Handan city

[Objective]To understand the cognitive status of menopause knowledge and recognition degree among family members of climacteric women,compare the difference,and develop the targeted measures of health education.[Methods]The family members of 100 married women aged 45-55 years old in a community of Handan city were investigated with questionnaires by interview.[Results]Only 32% of their husband knew the menopause-related knowledge very well,and 35% could understand the changes on wives.22% of their children knew the menopause-related knowledge very well,and 28% could understand the changes on mothers.[Conclusion]The family members of climacteric women have poor recognition of menopause knowledge,and they do not pay enough attention on it.The menopausal problems are often ignored,which is presented as lack of care for women.The family members need to be given more education of menopause knowledge.
