Facteurs individuels et collectifs qui influencent les aspirations et le processus de choix d'études universitaires au Chili

2015
The purpose of the present thesis is to shed light on the process of access to universities in Chile. We examined and analyzed the individual and collective factors that have an influence over final year high school students when confronted to the aspirations and the decision of choosing a degree, in the context of unequal massification of undergraduate studies. The first empiric research confirms the critical influence of cultural capital over these aspirations. The second research explores the impact of motivational dimensions over the student’s aspirations using the expectancy-value psychological model. The two final researches aimed to understand the significance of secondary school’s institutional culture when promoting undergraduate studies among their students and the magnitude of its influence in the final decision.
