Characterization of Some Soils of North Indian Plains

1972
An attempt has been made to characterize and classify some of the representative soils of north Indian plains. Differences in soil forming factors responsible for the differential profile development have been enumerated. Relationship of land form associations and soil taxa identified under different climatic regions has been explained. The soils have been classified according to comprehensive system of soil classification. Importance of classifying and mapping soils at textural family level for practical utility has been discussed.
