A Portable Neutron-Gamma Spectrometer Design Based on CLLB Scintillation Detector

2021
Neutron sources are always accompanied by the de-excitation gamma rays, discriminate neutron events in mixed radiation environments can improve the performance of spectrometer significantly. The detector based on the combination of CLLB (C S2LiLaBr_6 ) crystal and PMT is proposed to detect both $\gamma$ -ray and thermal neutron events. With the method of pulse shape discrimination(PSD), this design is able to measure the energy spectrums of thermal neutron and $\gamma$ -ray events at the same time. An SK filter is introduced in this system to discuss how a frequency-sensitive filter system affects other parameters and overall performance. Low power consumption ICs and high integration board-level design are used in this design in order to minimize the size of the entire system. Small size and wide-range power supply makes it appropriate in battery-powered and remote measurement applications.
