Hemocoagulase atrox for injection in the treatment of post-extraction refractory bleeding

2010
Objective To assess the efficacy of hemocoagulase atrox for injection in the treatment of post-extraction refractory bleeding. Methods 32 patients aged 21 to 72 (11 males and 21 females, mean age 42 years) who had been diagnosed as post-extraction refractory bleeding during July 2006 to July 2009 in Sun Yat-Sen university school of stomatology were randomly to receive 2U of hemocoagulase atrox for injection (16 patients, study group), or 0.5 g of etamsvlatum (16 patients, control group). The local hemostatic status was observed and the hemostatic effect was compared between the two groups with chi square test. Results There was a statistical significance between the study group and the control group in the effective rate (93.8% vs. 56.3%; x2= 6,P<0.05). Conclusions Hemocoagulase atrox for injection has a better hemostatic effect on post-extraction refractory bleeding.
