Study on Mechanical Properties of Recycled Aggregate Concrete(I)——Behaviour under Uniaxial Compression

2007
The behaviour of recycled aggregate concrete(RAC) under uniaxial compression were stuched.Extensive tests were conducted to investigate prism compressive strength to cube compressive strength ratio, cylinder compressive strength to cube compressive strength ratio,stress-strain curve, peak strain, ultimate strain and modulus of elasticity as well as Poisson's ratio. The results indicate that except for the Poisson's ratio and ultimate strain, the recycled aggregate concrete behaves in a different manner compared with normal concrete,it has larger peak strain, smaller elastic modulus and is more brittle. The applicability of the interrelationships of normal concrete to recycled aggregate concrete was evaluated and it was found that they could be applied to recycled aggregate concrete without modification.Based on the test results, some new correlations between mechanical properties for recycled aggregate concrete are proposed.
