Feasibility of osteoporosis studies in zebra fish model using SR-microCT

2020
Imaging beamline (Bl-4) at Indus-2 synchrotron source is a unique facility for microstructure and density analysis of samples from material, bio-medical sciences and engineering. This study aims to find out suitable sample preparation protocols for synchrotron micro-computed tomography (SR-µCT) analysis of biological tissues and validate its usability for osteoporosis detection and charecterisation. Various protocols of sample preparation were tested on zebra fish models to find out their suitability for accurate microstructure and density mapping. Further control and chemically treated samples with osteoporosis were tested using SR-µCT to compare structural and density variation.
