2018
The water dynamics and distribution of the sea grass Zostera marina are investigated as factors of the curative mud forming in the Voevoda Bay. The water currents are measured directly. The closed circulation is formed in the middle part of the bay by prevailing winds: anticyclonic by northwestern wind and cyclonic by southeastern wind. Zostera marina distribution is researched by divers. Its highest biomass is observed on the shallows where projective coating is 100 % and mean biomass is 3 kg/m 2 (wet weight). Bottom sediments and depth of the acoustic basement are mapped using seismoacoustic method. The maximal thickness of the curative mud layer is found in the internal part of the bay (Melkovodnaya Bight) where it reaches 15 meters.
