Atypical typhoid fever in a young child

Abstract Typhoid fever is an acute systemic disease caused by Salmonella typhi and is a serious problem in developing countries. It is less common under 3 years of age. Every system of our body bears the onslaught of typhoid fever. Typhoid fever is atypical in nature in preschool children. We report a 2 year old typhoid patient who presented with huge hepatomegaly and ascitis.
