Modal Analysis of Dual Band-Notched UWB Printed Antenna with U-Shaped and C-Shaped Slots

2020
A low profile, printed dual band-notched ultrawideband antenna is investigated. The antenna produces dual notch at frequency bands 3.24–3.78 GHz and 5.13–6.42 GHz, while yielding UWB performance from 3 to 11 GHz. The modal analysis of the antenna is carried out to investigate the notch bands formation. First, the effect of beveling on the input impedance to realize wide bandwidth is analyzed. The effect of U-shaped and C-shaped slots in the patch on the resonant modes is analyzed by observing current distribution in the patch. It is observed that addition of U-shaped slots increases the input impedance of TM21 mode, while addition of C-shaped slots increases the input impedance of TM20 mode yielding dual notches. Also, the time-domain analysis is carried out to investigate the transfer function and group delay.
