Strontium-82 active pharmaceutical ingredient (Sr-82 API) is the drug substance for producing 82 Sr/ 82 Rb generators [1, 2]. Sr-82 is produced by irradiation of metallic rubidium in a proton accelerator via the reaction 85 Rb(p,4n) 82 Sr [3]. Sr-82 decays with a half-life (T 1/2 ) of 25.5 d to form radioactive rubidium-82 (Rb-82) with T 1/2 = 75 sec, which decays to stable krypton-82 via the reaction:
