Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) occurs in 1 of every 500 adults in the general population. Its perioperative management presents a challenge to anesthesiologists. This review covers the genetic background, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and therapeutic options for patients with HCM. It summarizes the principles of perioperative management of HCM patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery.
