The Vascular Repair of an Experimental Osteotomy: The Effect of Separation, Reduction and Compression of the Bone Fragments

1990
Fractured weight bearing bones do not heal in the normal anatomical position without the aid of some fixation device. To maintain reduction, numerous implants are available which variably affect the blood supply of healing bone. Accounts of vascular repair in fractures healing in an anatomically normal position are scarce, reflecting the difficulty of establishing a suitable fracture model without resorting to internal fixation devices [5].
