A Concurrent MICS/ISM Dual-Band CMOS Low Noise Amplifier for an Integrated Body Sensor Network

2020
In this paper, a concurrent dual-band LNA is proposed in a commercial 180 nm technology for integration of a body sensor network (BSN). The LNA operates in the Medical Implant Communication System (MICS) band of 402-405 MHz and the Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band of 902-928 MHz. Dual-band input and output matching networks are used to produce two resonances at the desired frequencies. The LNA is verified through simulation of both pre and post layout, and shows a current draw of 2 mA from a 1.8 V supply. At the center frequencies of 403.5 MHz and 915 MHz, the gain is 17.0 and 12.71 dB, and the noise Figure is 2.3 and 1.7 dB, respectively.
