Study on Partial Discharge Characteristics of Nano-SiO 2 Modified Epoxy Resin for 10kV solid insulated switch-gear

2021
The epoxy resin of solid insulated switchgear will be subjected to electrical, thermal, mechanical and environmental stresses during operation, and then partial discharge (PD) will occur. PD will seriously reduce the electrical performance of the epoxy resin and shorten the service life of the switchgear. Therefore, to improve the electrical performance of the epoxy resin insulation, especially the PD-resistant ability, has be-come the focus of current research. In this paper, the epoxy resin specimen with nano-SiO2 particles are prepared, and the PD patterns of different voltage levels are collected in the laboratory environment. The experiment results show that compared to the epoxy resin, the nano-SiO2 modified epoxy resin has better insulation performance, and the initial discharge voltage increases significantly and the discharge amplitude decreases significantly. In addition, the discharge pattern of the nano-SiO2 modified epoxy resin shows an obvious asymmetric feature of corona discharge at 10kV, while the epoxy resin insulation shows an asym-metric feature at 3kV. It can be seen that the nano-SiO2 modified epoxy resin has excellent resistance to partial discharge.
