Wilson’s disease: CT and ultrasound
1991
Seventy-one patients aged from 16 to 70 years with a diagnosis based on clinical and biochemical findings underwent CT of the head and abdomen and ultrasonography of the abdomen. Most frequently, cerebral and cerebellar cortical atrophy was noted; more rarely hypodensity in the basal ganglia was found. CT disclosed splenomegaly and a low density liver in 60% of the patients, cirrhosis of the liver in 12%. Ultrasonography showed parenchymal nodularity of the liver and enlargement of the spleen.
