Summary aim.�Assessmentofchangeinseverityofdepressiveandgeneralizedanxietysymptomsinpatientswith� neuroticandpersonalitydisorderstreatedwithpsychodynamicpsychotherapy. Material and methods. �Fromatotalof�105�patients,�82�(78%)�finishedthestudy:�21�menand�61�women� agedrangefrom�19�to�67�yearsofage�(mean�35.4�yearsold).�Symptomsanddiagnosesofthedepres- siveepisode�(ICD-10)�wereassessedusingthePSE�(PresentStateExaminationfromSCAN�2.0)�ques- tionnairebefore,�justafter,�and�1�yearafterthe�12-weekpsychotherapyinadayhospitalward.�Statistical� analyseswerebasedonaclusteranalysisandthek-meansclusteringmethod. results.�39�persons�(48%)�werediagnosedwithadepressiveepisodebeforetreatment.�Aftertreatment,� 24�patients�(29%)�stillfulfilledthecriteria,�andafternext�12�monthsthenumberofdiagnosesof��depres- siveepisodedroppedto�10�(12%).�70%�ofthepatientsdemonstratedmarkeddecreaseofdepressive� symptoms.�47�patients�(57%)�whohadhighinitialratesofGADsymptomsdemonstratedamarkeddrop� ofratings.
