Recent Results of the Light Ion Beam Program at the Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe

1986
At the Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe (KfK; Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Center) a light ion beam (LIB) program was started in the winter of 1979/80. One incentive to this development was the progress already achieved with the pulsed power technique. Generators had been built supplying electro-magnetic pulses in the Terawatt range over tenths of nanoseconds at reasonable cost. These pulsed power generators are suitable for driving ion sources (diodes) to produce Megaampere LIBs.
