Change of cytokines in position infected by film-forming bacteria

OBJECTIVE To study the change of cytokines and the change rules aroused by the pulmonary infections of infection sites due to the formation of biofilm.METHODS The power of the biofilm formation was determined for the strains cultured from the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid specimens then were divided into the strong,medium and week group.The IL-4 and r-IFN level were detected in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and serum of patients,then the detection results were analyzed by SPSS 17.0 statistics software.RESULTS There were 24 strains with strong film-forming ability and 21 strains with weak film-forming ability among the 68 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Acinetobacter baumanii,and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid.The IL-4 level(28.85±7.67pg/ml)in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid from patients infected by strong film-forming bacteria was significantly higher than(20.75±7.63 pg/ml) from the patients infected by weak biofilm-forming ability(P0.05),but the levels of r-IFN in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid from the patients infected by the strong film-forming bacteria and the patients infected by the weak film-forming bacteria were(12.78±3.75)pg/ml and(14.01±3.63)pg/ml,respectively,the difference was not statistically significant.The serum IL-4 levels of the patients infected by 24 strains of strong film-forming bacteria and the patients infected by 21 strains of film-forming bacteria were(18.06±7.12) pg/ml and(20.74±6.45) pg/ml,respectively,the difference was not statistically significant,the serum r-INF levels were(13.84±6.26) pg/ml and(15.14±5.77) pg/ml,respectively,the difference was not statistically significant.The IL-4 level of the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and the serum IL-4 of the 68 patients were(27.43±12.82) pg/ml and(20.45±7.18) pg/ml,respectively,with the correlation coefficient of r=-0.146,(P0.05),while the r-IFN levels were(13.41±4.09)pg/ml and(15.107±5.8 0)pg/ml,respectively,with the correlation coefficient of r=-0.103(P0.05).CONCLUSION The level of IL-4 produced by the strong biofilm-forming bacteria causing local site infections is significantly higher than that produced by the weak biofilm-forming bacteria causing local site infections,however,there is no significant difference in the level of r-IFN,which can provide the theoretical basis for the clinical treatment of pulmonary infections caused by the species of bacteria,especially the strong biofilm-forming bacteria.
