DYNAMICS OF WATER QUALITY IN VANNAMEI (LITOPENAEUS VANNAMEI) SHRIMP CULTIVATION UNDER DIFFERENT POOL CONSTRUCTION

Concrete construction and HDPE plastics are widely used in intensive vannamei shrimp ponds, because they made easier the handling process. Pond construction greatly affects the organic matter content in the waters and is influenced by water sources. This study aims to analyze the effect of pond construction used in vannamei shrimp culture (concrete ponds and HDPE plastic ponds) on water quality. The research was conducted in a brackish water pond area, which peformed a vannamei shrimp cultivation activity that located in Situbondo Regency, East Java Province. The observation was done by taking direct measurements in situ and ex situ. The results showed that concrete ponds produce higher TOM levels compared to ponds with HDPE construction.
