Objective: Comparing adolescents' body image satisfaction levels before and after the menarche, relating them to the body mass index. Methods: 40 middle socioeconomic class adolescents, average menarche aged (BM=10.75±0.78, AM=11.5±0.90), average body weight (BM=39.55±7.73, AM=43.80±8.30), average height (BM=1.48±0.08, AM=1.53±0.07) and BMI (BM=18.03±2.58, AM=18.57±2.82), were subjected to BI satisfaction measurement through the Body Shape Questionnaire patterns (BSQ). Descriptive statistics: mean, minimum, maximum, standard deviation, by the SPSS 17,0 was used. Results: Significant variations (p=0.001) concerning age, weight, height and BMI before and after menarche were found, but no changes in the BSQ (p=0.895) score means were found and the variation of the BSQ (p=0.530) with the BMI was significant (p=0.018). The r Pearson correlation was high before and after me - narche with BMI (r=0.895), BSQ (r=1.000) and body weight (r=1.000). Conclusion: The results of the study show that body image in adolescence before and after the menarche is similar and indicates dissatisfaction levels related to a rated normal BMI and girls show no worries about body appearance.
