Improving the Control and Efficiency of the Heating Process

Aiming to improve the control and efficiency of the heating process of steel load in rotary-hearth furnace, the fuel consumption and material loss of steel load by scaling during heating in the rotary-hearth furnace is analyzed. A computational approach to describe this process has been developed and verified by experiments under operational conditions. The paper presents the results of experimental and numerical investigations to establish operational conditions through optimizing the temperature regime under which the rotary-hearth furnace, situated before the seamless tubes rolling mill, should be operated in order to minimize operation cost through optimization the heating conditions.
