Wire spark chamber readout using capacitors and field effect transistors

Abstract A wire spark chamber readout that is insensitive to magnetic fields, and capable of detecting very weak discharges is described. A capacitor in series with each wire of the spark chamber serves as the memory element. This memory is readout by discharging it with a field effect transistor into a data bus. Operation of an experimental chamber is described.
