Comparison of calculated third-order aberrations of a magnetic quadrupole lens

Abstract Discrepancies between expressions for third-order aberration coefficients of a magnetic quadrupole lens of uniform gradient calculated by Smith 1 ) and by Lee-Whiting 2 ) are traced to an algebraic error in the former.
