Evaluation of Transformer State Based on the Life Cycle

A transformer is one of the most important units in power networks. Its performance status will affect the safe and stable operation of the entire power system. Various stresses and faults present during the active service life of the transformer accelerate its ageing. It makes sense to accurately determine the operating state of the transformer. The operation performance of the transformer is affected by many aspects, including the original factory quality, operating environment and so on. In this paper, a state assessment method based on the whole life cycle of transformers is proposed. Taking the real field data of 15 working transformers for example, the proposed condition assessment model have been tested. The results obtained are not only accurate, but also flexible and easy. It shall prove to be very significant to the utility managers and power utilities.
