Measurement prototype of Biofeedback physiological signals

2017
Biofeedback is a technique that allows a person to recognize their physiological activity, in order to control it voluntarily and, in case of deregulation, be able to achieve normal physiological parameters again. In this paper, the design and development of a prototype is carried out so that it allows the evaluation of three physiological variables of Biofeedback application: 1) heart rate, 2) respiratory rate and 3) electrodermal activity. The regulation of these variables is related to the control of anxiety in stressful situations. The prototype consists of a hardware unit that acquires, amplifies, processes, digitalizes, and sends the signals to the computer wirelessly. In addition, an interface for display, analysis, storage, and audiovisual feedback of the signals to the user is linked to the device. The evaluations results reveal that the prototype enables the measurement and the visualization of the signals simultaneously and in real time. Likewise, it also behaves similarly to the commercial equipment used in comparison.
