Comparison of Angiographic and Scintigraphic Findings in Unilateral Renal Lesions Accompanied by Hypertension

1972
Urography, renovasography and split clearence examination are methods of choice in the preoperative evaluation of patients with unilateral renal lesions as a cause of hypertension. Opinions are contradictory regarding the validity of renal scanning in the assesment of renal ischemia (Haynie et al., 1961; Westphal et al. 1962; Cohen et al1963; zum Winkel, 1964). Therefore the value of renal scanning in patients with angiographically demonstrated destruction of renal parenchyma was studied in order to localise and to evaluate the degree of renal demage. The correlation of findings of renovasography and renal scanning in assesment of unilateral loss of renal parenchyma accompanied by increased prerenal or intrarenal renal blood flow resistance as a cause of hypertension is demonstrated in typical cases.
