Preparation and application of metal-organic framework films

2013
Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are emerging as an extensive class of novel nanoporous crystalline materials, the structure of which is composed of metal ions or clusters joined by a variety of organic linkers through strong coordination bonds. Unique properties of MOFs including uniform pore size, high surface areas and specific adsorption affinities make MOFs attractive for assembling into films with excellent performance. The ?eld of MOF films bears a huge potential for both fundamental understanding and practical applications. This review reports on recent progress in MOF films synthesis and their corresponding applications in separation, chemical sensors, catalysis, and electrochemistry. Meanwhile, the challenges to be overcome have been identi?ed.
