Stress-deformation characteristics of super-high central core rock-fill dams

Earth and rock-fill dam is a widely used type of dam,and many 300-meter high dams under construction or planed in China adopt such dam type.Recent years,the department of hydraulic engineering of Tsinghua University has successfully completed the stress-deformation analyses of several 300-meter super-high central core rock-fill dams such as Nuozhadu,Shuangjiangkou,Lianghekou,Gushui and Qizong.This paper presents a summary on the technique of dam material zoning and the parameter ranges of Duncan-Chang EB model of these dams,including typical computations that demonstrates stress distribution,arch effects in central core,deformation distribution,excess water pressure distribution in central core,stress level distribution and so on.
