A metamaterial electromagnetic wave absorber based on resistive films for micro-satellite spatial applications

This paper presents a thin and efficient absorber operating in the band [8–8.4 GHz] for the reduction of electromagnetic interactions between a payload telemetry isoflux antenna and the neighboring elements of the payload of a micro-satellite. The proposed design uses a 1000 Ω/sq TICER resistive film as part of a multi-layer PCB to absorb the electromagnetic energy. The multi-layer insulation (MLI) material coating the satellite acts as a ground plane for the absorber.
