Towards the entrepreneurial university : a conceptual framework of Universiti Putra Malaysia / Zulhamri Abdullah, Mohamad Shatar Sabran and Mohd Fauzi Ramlan

2012
The purpose of this paper is to develop a synergistic model of a University entrepreneurial strategy. A document analysis is used to test the model. The market feasibility was conducted to look for the entrepreneurial changes in the Universiti of Putra Malaysia. The study found that entrepreneurship is not about business alone. Importantly, it has been seen as the notion of developing entrepreneurial graduates may transform Universiti of Putra Malaysia into a leading Asian entrepreneurship university. Additionally, nowadays, enhancing graduate employability among public higher education institutions can be daunting thought as many universities are facing a decrease in number of graduates being employed and marketed in a highly competitive global and national market environment particularly in a developing country like Malaysia. It is a big challenge for universities to change perceptual and behavioral mechanisms in the light of enhancing graduate employability and marketability.
