New community Jetty in the Kimberley: Anthon's Landing Jetty, Wyndham WA

2013
Australia's extensive coastline and relatively small population requires port infrastructure to be built in locations that can be quite remote from capital cities. There are few regions that are more remote or challenging than Wyndham in the Kimberley region of northern Western Australia. The Anthon's Landing Jetty project was a Design and Construct contract for the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley, awarded in October 2010. The facility included a 108 metre long jetty, a 36 metre long berthing pontoon, and a 45 metre long access truss to accommodate the large tidal range. The berth was designed to accommodate vessels ranging from small recreational boats up to 500 tonne cruise ships that service the Kimberley region. The project team consisted of Aztec Analysis as designers with Maritime Constructions as contractor. The project was completed in the following October 2011 and was a national finalist in the 2012 Engineers Australia Engineering Excellence Awards.
